O What a Tangled Web We Weave...

When first we practice the art of netmaking! As part of an art project, I took up the ancient practice of weaving nets the other evening. Fishermen for centuries have been using the same simple square knots to form lengths of rope and string into webs of their livelihood. As I understand, the same technique can also apply to yarn and thread! Somehow I'm not sure about the idea of a fishnet shawl, however. Here's a small sample of jute twine:
Strangely enough, the rhythmic motion is rather relaxing, much like knitting. Hmm, I wonder, would I have the patience to make a whole hammock?
